Pedestrian Wooden bridge proposal

The design blends both engineering and aesthetics into one coherent structure. Wooden structures have, for thousands of years, met very high standards in both elements.

Our bridge is a box shaped composite structure that has several interesting attributes. It is:

  • Lightweight,

  • Aesthetically pleasing,

  • 100% wood construction,

  • Water resistant with a shape to prevent ponding and a surface to prevent absorption,

  • Harmonically resonant (makes sounds in the same manner as a guitar) as a design element, and

  • Easily mass produced.

The model is a 1:10 scale prototype of a 67 m long span suitable for Alder Bay (Connection from the False Creek South Slope Seawall to Granville Island)
